What Bark Is
Bark is a privacy-first Linux desktop voice dictation and command widget targeting Fedora 44 / XFCE 4.20 on X11 and Wayland. Built in Python 3.12 and PyGObject/GTK3 with PipeWire (pw-record) and ALSA integration, Bark captures audio strictly ephemerally in RAM so raw voice recordings never touch disk. It routes audio to OpenRouter speech-to-text endpoints with a user-owned financial ledger (LEDGER.md) and expands into physical homelab security via the Acoustic Sentry RFC (bark-sentry, Issue #10).
